Synovate Surveys: Global finding on Online Dating

A current study released by research firm Synovate on global perception on online dating reveals some interesting findings.

Over 4,000 people surveyed from 8 countries (United States, Brazil, France, Korea, Philippines, Singapore, Romania and South Africa) almost 50% said using online dating to find their dream date is a waste of time and the reason for not joining and using online dating was safety issue.

These facts are a lesson for top big dog online dating services. If they want to survive and compete with over 1000 online dating services, they must be able to find solution.

Synovate findings are as below:
49% believe online dating is a great way to meet new people and 48% people believe it is a complete waste of time.

25% believe photo profile is the most important part to initiate contact , 39% focus on your profile essay or description and 32% look for same hobbies or interest

77% people surveyed believe that most people lie in their online dating profile.

33% people refuse to use online dating services pinpoint safety concern as number one reason for avoiding meeting people online.

As to the safety concern, I think True.com is the only online dating that provides and checks criminal background and marital status of their members but unfortunately their services only available to United States.

But I believe other major online dating services would soon follow True.com to protect their members in answering online the safety issue.
